Pre-Season Field Management

What is a Pre-Season Field map?

A Pre-Season Field Management Map shows variation in soil color due to organic matter, elevation and/or moisture. The number of soil zones in the field is determined in collaboration with the grower.  The map is produced using proprietary algorithms to take advantage of the spectral and spatial attributes of high and medium spatial resolution satellite imagery.

How can the map be used?

Pre-Season Field Management Map along with the sample locations can be imported into a hand held GPS for soil sample collections to rapidly locate areas with a nutrient deficiency and to take action through fertilizer application using variable rate equipments.

Product value

Current pre-season field management consists of collecting a significant number of soil samples through grid sampling for analysis and input application.  This approach is time consuming costly and inefficient.  GeoSpatial Partners Pre-Season Field Management Map is used to plan the collection of limited and representative samples for soil analysis to help develop a fertilizer recommendation map. The map can be calibrated for import into variable rate applicators to apply the recommended amount of fertilizer and water at nutrient limiting areas, significantly saving in input cost when compared to a blanket application.  Also, the map saves on pre-season soil sampling cost.
