Corn-Soybean Survey
What is Corn & Soybeans Survey product?
Corn and Soybean Survey product regroups textual and spatial information related to corn and soybean condition within a County, a State or the entire Nation. The map shows the spatial distribution of individual corn and soybean fields, the total area and the exact field locations within the area of interest defined by the customer. Geospatial Partners uses well calibrated multi-platform and multi-temporal satellite imagery along with proprietary algorithms and limited ground references to generate the map and associated statistics. We use early season satellite imagery to determine field boundaries and to subsequently identify planted crop based on seasonal biomass trajectory measured by the satellite. Final map and associated statistics are made available in formats ready for ingest in the customer’s decision support system.
How is the information used?
Local government agencies, commodity boards and traders are seeking accurate and timely information on commodities including corn and soybeans production. GeoSpatial Partners tailors the information product such that it fits within the customer’s decision system to support production management, trading decisions and logistics planning.
Product Value
Regional production management and trading decisions and logistic planning are currently based on commodity statistic reports from government agencies. They use error prone approaches including limited field survey and reports from local and foreign agencies to estimate and forecast acreages and productions. GeoSpatial Partners uses medium and coarse resolution satellite imagery with their spatial, spectral and temporal characteristics together with proprietary algorithms to produce robust and timely corn and soybean maps and associated statistics. Current thematic accuracy of the production system is higher than 90% at 95% probability.
